John J. McDonough

John McDonough, President of NISR, has been the principal instructor for NHTSA's Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) and Crash Report Sampling System (CRSS) since 2007. In addition to his work with NHTSA, Mr. McDonough has served as a subject matter expert and trainer for FMCSA's Data Quality Improvement Program and the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) in the development of a web-based training resource for the last four editions of MMUCC (2003, 2008, and 2012). He has also assisted numerous states by advising on crash report redesign, training law enforcement officers in crash classification and their state crash report form, and by writing officer instruction manual and training class content. Mr. McDonough also has experience with traffic safety data standardization to include being a member of the ANSI D16 Manual on the Classification of Motor Vehicle Traffic Accidents 7th Edition Workgroup (2007, 2017), a member of the MMUCC Expert Panel (2008, 2012, 2017), and a team member of the USDOT Data Standardization/NHTSA Data Compatibility Workgroup (2005-2012).
